Since the weather is gonna be nice today I want to get my car cleaned and waxed.
I was looking to take my car somewhere inexpensive, like a Turtle wax place or something.
Looking for somewhere in the Roselle/Bloomingdale area.
Any suggestions?

I'm thinking about taking my car down to a place called We Wash III by Halstead/Grand. They had the new GTC Speed, 8er, Shelby Cobra, new E class, M5, LS600hL, Roush Mustang, etc getting detailed. I got quoted 200 for a full detail (buff, interior, etc).
Beware of Turtle Wax places...

Me! :)
"Budget" detailing places so much more harm than good. Think: buffer trailing, too much clear coat removed, burned trim, cheap products, caked on wax, greasy tire dressing, greasy interior dressing... need more?

i dont want a detail, i just want a place that can do a good wash for when im too lazy to do it myself. The idea of detailing my car slightly scares me because Scion really cheaped out on the clear coat and i dont know if theres enough of it to cut into

10 bucks. Depends what you want. I really don't have them put tire shine on because thats what kills the car wash when it sprays all over the car as you drive. The dressing they use is good though, shines good but will get on your car while driving. I usually put tire dressing on at home and let the car sit before I start driving

Their detail jobs a really good as well. I had a 98 integra gsr with the normal faded red paint and they really turned it around and made it shine once again

Just have one of these detailers on the site do a wash and wax for you. No polishing since that seems to me what you are afraid of.
Budget Detailing = Fail Detail.
Or just take an hour out of your time and optimum no rinse your shit.

If you wanna pick up some cheap stuff, you could get Duragloss products - apparently that shit lasts forever and it doesn't cost much

Good old saying "pic says a thousand words"...
$250 detail in Naperville:

$200 detail in downtown Chicago:

Their crappy work corrected by me (please don't take this as an advertisement, rather bashing those hacks who ruin the word detailing for everyone):

No such thing, sad but true.

That place is horrible like any other corner wash in the city. I get a lot of 'referrals' (clients who are indirectly referred to me by Pierre's after Pierre's ruins the paint) from there.

That's the worst they can do, but they also cause all the swirl marks from washing and drying with dirty/used towels/mitts/etc. Don't get me wrong, swirls are usually inevitable (I say usually because on an Audi with extremely hard clear coat you can go a good year or two without seeing more than a few swirls here and there) but there's a difference between a car looking swirled up in a few weeks as opposed to 5-6 months.

Yea those are the worst. I've dealt with a few Subarus that had horribly soft and cheap cc as well. The problem is 10x worse if you take it to a crappy place to wash and/or detail and here's why: Your paint is soft to begin with, so any washing and drying will tend to put some swirls in the paint. With dirty and used towels, a nice dark blue (see photos below) will look gray instead of blue within a few washes. Then, to fix that, you need to polish. When polishing, clear coat is removed, and your soft clearcoat is removed that much faster. These Turtle Wax and Pierre's type places use what seems like sand and rocks on a wool polishing pad to 'correct' the swirl marks, and while they do make it shiny (the swirls from the polish are usually less visible and thinner than the swirl marks from before), a LOT of paint is taken off, there are still swirls everywhere, and you've just probably lost your chance of making the clearcoat look good again because, for example, I wouldn't want to go much aggressive then a light one or two step polish on your vehicle, regardless of the result. I would opt for this so I don't remove even more clearcoat, leading to failure.
Uncorrected blue (looked pretty much gray or dull dull blue after a wash):

Corrected(these photos are in no way edited.. they simply show the color reflecting light instead of the swirls making the paint completely dull):

Here's the difference between shiny paint and actual properly polished paint:
The following three photos were taken after I washed the car (wash and dry only on all three photos, just no direct light on the 2nd pic):
http://www.lustrdetail.com/Images/porsche%202003%20911%20Turbo%20Kunal%2006.19.07/before/porsche911kunalbefore%20%281%29.JPG
http://www.lustrdetail.com/Images/porsche%202003%20911%20Turbo%20Kunal%2006.19.07/after/porsche911kunalafter%20%287%29.JPG
http://www.lustrdetail.com/Images/porsche%202003%20911%20Turbo%20Kunal%2006.19.07/before/porsche911kunalbefore%20%288%29.JPG
And corrected:

Don't get me wrong, swirled up and shiny does look better than faded paint, but when taking it in for a detail, you have to understand that making paint shiny doesn't have to involve leaving a bunch of swirl marks from being too aggressive and polishing improperly.

You should get a nice wash, clay and sealant before winter and a thorough detail in springtime so it looks nice for the summer/warmer months and you'll also get a good base to start with proper paint maintenance.

Exactly... it's the simple work triangle of Quality, Time and Cost. If you want quick and cheap, it won't be good. If you want quick and good, it won't be cheap (however this doesn't apply much to detailing since it's impossible to do good work quickly, rather applies to a shop environment where you drop off a car and if you want it done quickly and are willing to pay a big price, then it'll be done quicker as in get to the front of the line quicker). Good and cheap is pretty much impossible.
Yay for Ivan!
BTW, please change your sig unless you are planning on becoming a vendor :D

How about a good paint shop? Anybody here have experience with that? I know of a few people looking to get a quality detail (swirl correction w/out removing all of the clear coat, etc) and I'm looking to get fresh paint that won't chip, won't have orange peel or drips and will hold up just as good or better than cheapo factory Mitsubishi paint.

Can't help you with the fresh top tier paint, but from what I've seen of the detailers on this board - they should be able to do a good job without using harder compounds than they need.
Swirls should come out with something light like 205 or D151, if it's worse than that, detailers will have no choice but to remove a little more clear to polish out the paint. Also if it's that bad, your friends need to wash their cars more carefully.
